John Bowman
Today
still full river
this afternoon
in the sunlight a few hours ago
today is
today is
today is
hi how can I help you
see the resemblance
of course all you do
is see resemblances
may your hands cast
any shadow
My Apartment
left at street level
reaching into the text this morning’s
bread at midnight
third glass of water okay
for today and tomorrow
body heat on the beach
and fruits in the refrigerator
shifting color as shade
grows over the waves
the way smoke fills a canopy
I like music in public
coffee plastic ice trash
to sit down in the grass
on a Monday night
unlock my jaw my hips
help me to prepare
this form of divination
lifted into the kitchen
with our provisions
