Alex Gregor
a gulp of swallows
i chew up
your lips
and swallow them.
they sprout
and take root
in my intestines.
the leaves
grow
in my lungs
and the stems
in my throat.
they flower
in my mouth,
and a swarm
of honeybees
pollinates them,
and when they seed, i spit them
out
and
up,
and they transform
into eggs
hatching
a gulp
of
swallows,
flying into your eyes
and nesting
in the rafters
in the back
of your skull,
and in the sunroom
behind your
ribcage.
